Our Oriental Basma tobacco is a fragrant but sweet aromatic. Grown in Greece, these little leaves pack the perfect amount of aroma and spice. Generally, our Basma Tobacco consists of yellow or golden leaves with heavy body and a high oil content. Surprisingly small in size, Greek farmers pull these leaves one at a time, hang them on suspended strings similar to clotheslines, and cure them in the sun. This labor intensive process yields a leaf that is very important to the American market. Since the early 20th century, aromatic tobacco has been a necessary balance to the flavors of Virginia Flue Cured and Burley tobaccos.
